Branch Chipping
Wood chipping explained...
Wood, branch or brush chipping is when branches are fed into a wood chipper to cut or shred the tree branches into small pieces. The pieces are referred to as wood chips or mulch.
Wood chips from a tree service consist of green wood, pine needles and leaves (primarily). These chips are best suited for ground cover away from the house unpaved driveways and pathways. The chips are not landscape quality, the exact ratio of wood to leaves varies with the season and the materials chipped.
Sorry, we do not sell our wood chips, instead we donate them to local tree growers who use them to grow trees.

How we charge for chipping:
If you were to take your pile of branches and stack them on the back of a pickup truck and strap them down, we would charge $75 to chip an equivalent pickup truck load amount. The type of wood makes a difference as some woods tend to chip faster than others, we need to do a site visit to give an exact price. Minimum of $100 per chipping job.
We charge by time so make sure your piles are well organized, saving us time saves you money.

How to organize your branches:
- Place brush piles so our crews have easy access.
- Keep all piles free of rocks, roots, garbage, dirt and lumber.
- Piles need to be beside a driveway or roadway (on your property). Refer to the picture example.
- Rather than one huge pile stacked really high, stack branch piles in smaller bunches with all cut ends facing road.
Chipping FYI:
- Our chippers can easily handle material up to 12" in diameter, but anything larger than 8" can be considered firewood.
- Recently cut branches will chip better than old dried out ones.
- We do not chip piles of pine needles or leaves.
- If we are chipping for you, you may always request to keep the wood chips, our operator will simply turn the chipper shoot to direct the chips into a pile on the ground.
